The final step in obtaining a new job is always the job interview. Your prospective boss has been through your cover letter and read your resume. They've checked out your qualifications and contacted your references and everything seems to be what they are looking for. So they then contact you and book a time to meet.
An interview is usually the first face-to-face meeting between you and your new boss. It is incredibly important to make the best impression at this time so dress to impress and be on your best behaviour. Remember, with today's busy schedules and the ability to cross the globe, your interviewer may not have time, or may not be in the same town, to meet personally so a phone interview is also possible.
Be ready to give the best interview possible by preparing your responses to questions you may be asked. Think carefully about what you would like to say and how you would like to portray yourself. This doesn't mean you make up lies to say, or that you prepare a script to read but only that you make sure you don't spend your interview time sitting in uncomfortable pauses while you come up with answers.
The following is a sheet of common questions you can be asked during any interview. Prepare short but complete responses of the type you would use during your interview.
