To create your first page:
1. Open Notebook from the Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories folder of the menu
2. You should have a blank document open. Start formatting it properly by typing in the
<html> </html> tags at the top and bottom of the page
3, Enter the <head> </head> tags to show where the introduction information will go
4. Within the head section of the document enter the <title> </title> tags. Whatever you
write between these tags will appear in the header of the window as the title of your webpage.
5. Font type, size and color are all changed by entering the proper arguments (names or numbers) in a tag. These are some of the single tag commands in HTML.

try changing at least one of these attributes for now and then type a line of text after the command.
6. You now need to save your page. Go File > Save As in the menu. Change the destination of the file
to be in the computer science folder of your G:/ drive and change the extension of the file from the
default *.txt to first page.htm (or *.html) and press save. This creates a file that can be read
by your browser rather than the word processor.
7. Now open whatever browser you like and go File > Open file aiming it at the file you just saved.
* Whenever you make a change to your file from now on you will have to re-save the file with the changes and then reload the file in your browser. Even if the same computer is working on the same file for editing and viewing it is running from two different programs and they will not automatically update with what the other is doing.
8. Now you play. Create something on your page and change up the fonts, colors and other attributes of your work. You should be able to save a page that shows
:At least three different font types,
:Three different font sizes
:Three different color commands used (fonts and/or backgrounds)
:Some lines of text either tabbed or centered
